ABOUT THE ROLE
This is the first engineering hire at an early-stage legal and finance tech startup, building a platform that brings mass claims proceedings out of spreadsheets and into a purpose-built, production-grade system. You will own the entire stack, working directly with the founders and clients in a high-stakes, regulated domain where your work has immediate, tangible impact.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop and operate the full platform across frontend, backend, and infrastructure as the sole engineer.
- Build intuitive control surfaces for case and claims management, deadlines, status tracking, scenario analysis, and daily reporting, designed for lawyers, CFOs, and operations teams.
- Design and implement APIs and integrations connecting to clients' case, contract, payment, and CRM systems, as well as law firms, legal software, and settlement agents.
- Create AI-supported data pipelines that transform statements of claim, dunning letters, and official notices into structured cases.
- Embed security and auditability from the start: tenant separation, least-privilege access, encryption, and complete logging.
- Collaborate closely with founders and clients from requirements gathering through to go-live.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3 or more years of full-stack development experience, with at least one product built and deployed to production end-to-end.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Node.js with hands-on production experience.
- Confidence with PostgreSQL and cloud infrastructure, including API design and data modelling.
- Experience integrating AI or LLMs, RAG systems, or document processing pipelines.
- Background building interfaces that handle large datasets and complex workflows, suitable for enterprise and board-level audiences.
- Familiarity with regulated industries, enterprise clients, and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, or TISAX.
- Experience building security-critical systems with tenant separation, encryption, and audit logging.
- German language proficiency at C1 level and comfort engaging directly with clients.
- Independent, accountable working style with an appetite for complex domains.
- Experience at early-stage startups with direct founder and client collaboration is a plus.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary range: 80,000 to 110,000 EUR annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

On-site in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
