Which ATS do companies use to hire each role?

Across the roles we track for software engineers, 60% sit on Greenhouse. The applicant-tracking system a company picks turns out to be a surprisingly strong signal of its size and stage, and almost nobody indexes jobs this way.

Most job sites index by title, location, or salary. Almost none let you filter by the applicant-tracking system a company runs on, even though that’s one of the most useful signals there is. Greenhouse and Lever skew toward funded, scaling startups; Ashby skews earlier-stage and eng-heavy; Workable and Recruitee show up across a broader, often smaller set of employers. If you know the ATS, you know a lot about who you’re applying to.

Why we publish this

We think the most useful job data is the data nobody else organizes. This is one of those cuts. It’s computed directly from companies’ own career pages (see our methodology for exactly how), and we refresh it as the catalog grows.
